Hundreds came to Bodmin Skatepark and The Space on Saturday 9 August for a fabulous Fusion Extreme Bodmin event.

KBSK youth board and members led free activities, all with a skateboarding theme.

Glitter tattoos were popular. Many became creative, drawing their own skateboard design in KBSK’s colouring competition. Finger skateboard giveaways allowed for skating fun on the mini ramps. Youth leaders made milkshakes, served cold drinks and sold snacks in The Space Café. Other activities included handing out flyers, telling parents about dance classes and Youth Nights and making announcements over the sound system.

Alex Davies, skateboard coach and part of Fusion Extreme, travelled from Wales to be part of Bodmin's Fusion X event. Alex said: “Bodmin Skatepark’s set up is really good.”

Alex judged KBSK’s skateboard design competition and selected an overall winner and four runners up. Top spot went to Teagan, who managed to complete her design in between her leader roles on the day! Teagan was delighted to be awarded a Penny board.

One Bodmin young person, Alex, was at the event. Usually, football is his bag but feeling bored, he went along to the skatepark and realised how much he enjoys riding the big bikes.

Bodmin Town Council put on this amazing event. Dane Byrne, Community Services senior manager at the council, said: “It’s a free summer event for families who want to get out and get active. Today, Fusion Extreme gave the opportunity to try freestyle BMXing, skateboarding and scootering. It’s also a chance to meet and chat with European and World Champions, watch them perform and receive top tips as you try out a wide range of equipment provided. The purpose of the event is to increase interest and encourage talent. Bodmin Town Council hopes it will be an annual event and plan to grow it further.”

Dane added: “Our close connection with KBSK has allowed us to collaborate with The Space and its free activities.”

KBSK is proud to be part of Bodmin Town Council’s and other community events.
