KBSK was invited to give a 30-mintue performance at the 12-hour festival of music, remembering Al Hodge and raising money for local charities.
The compere gave a fabulous introduction to KBSK: “It makes a real difference to Bodmin. Performing arts and youth work are massively important.” And with The Space as their permanent home, young people, families and community support is set to continue.
Lola, a KBSK dancer, introducing the performances with confidence and panache, said: “We are KBSK. We’re a non-profit organisation who believes every child has a right to access the arts. Today our Junior and Senior Academies are showing performances we have worked very hard on throughout the year.”
What followed was electric! The vibrancy, energy and passion exuding from all the performances was outstanding. The show was brilliantly arranged to give an opportunity for group dances, dance duet by Maya and Emerald, solo dances by Emma and Roxie, and together with Esme’s powerful solo song ‘Speechless’, the audience was blown away.
One man particularly moving in time to the beat of the dance music was Ian, who said: “I love the show. My niece is in it! KBSK is doing such a great job.”
Another person enjoying the performance, David Bidgway, said: “What a start to Alstock! It’s impressive that so many children and young people are involved, getting out, being active, and spending less time alone on social media. It is great to know KBSK has its own building in Priory Park.”
Committed KBSK members gave their all at this huge event in Bodmin.
